John Corbett Says He Was Cut From Series Finale

The series finale of NBC’s Parenthood won’t feature as many characters returning as anticipated.

The Jan. 29 episode was scheduled to feature the returns of Matt Lauria (Ryan), Sarah Ramos (Haddie) and John Corbett (Seth), but the latter received some disappointing news after the episode was cut together.

“I got a bad call from [showrunner] Jason Katims two nights ago and they had to cut my great scene,” the actor told The Hollywood Reporter at Sunday’s Television Critics Association’s winter press tour where he was there to support FX’s Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll. “They flew me all the way from New York [to L.A.] to do a scene with Lauren [Graham] and it was such a good scene. I got to see [Amber’s] baby and they had to cut it for time. I was super bummed.”

Corbett played Seth, Sarah’s (Graham) ex-husband and father to Amber and Drew.

The NBC family drama has two episodes remaining in its run and several storylines to tie up, including Zeek’s (Craig T. Nelson) health, Sarah and Hank’s (Ray Romano) engagement as well as the future of the Luncheonette.

So much is going on in that final episode, those people come in very organically into the show; it’s not like we’re doing it with any kind of a big, ‘And here’s Haddie.’ It happens very organically,” Katims told THR on Friday night during NBC’s TCA bash, noting the episode ran so long that producers had to trim several scenes.

Parenthood airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. on NBC. Stay tuned to THR‘s The Live Feed for more coverage.
